Our profile

The teaching and research area European Jewish literary and cultural history, which is a unique selling point in the German university landscape, is devoted to the cultural history of German-speaking Jews in Europe from the mid-18th century to the present. In addition to the spectrum of literary production, which is the focus of research and teaching, the work of Jewish scholars forms a second focal point. Constitutive for the teaching and research field is an approach that always considers literary and scientific works and their genesis in the historical context of the non-Jewish majority society.

Your profile

A doctorate is required.

  • Doctorate in Modern German Literature or General and Comparative Literature, preferably in the field of German-Jewish literature
  • Habilitation project in the field of German-speaking Jewish literature
  • Ability and willingness to work independently
  • Willingness to participate in self-administration

Your tasks

  • Independent academic teaching of 2 SWS (0.5 part-time) or 4 SWS (full-time)
  • Independent supervision of students and examination activities
  • independent research and publication activities
  • Willingness to participate in research projects in the field of teaching and research and openness for cooperation within the faculty
  • Collaboration in the self-administration of the institute and the department of literary studies, linguistics, philosophy

Our offer

Recruitment is on an employment basis.
The position is to be filled on 01.10.2020 and is limited to a minimum of 3, up to 6 years.
It is a part-time position with half of the regular weekly working hours. The position is to be filled to full-time until 30.9.2021. increased. A continuation of the increase is planned.
The position is rated EG 13 TV-L.
