The teaching and research area "Fachdidaktik Deutsch" deals with the scientific research of the teaching of German language and literature in school and extracurricular contexts.

The department belongs to the Institute for German Studies and General Literary Studies and works together with the Institute for Linguistics and Communication Studies as well as the didactics of other philological and non-philological subjects.

There is also close cooperation with the RWTH Teacher Training Centre and the specialist seminars of the second training phase.
