Konferenz (online) am 4. Dezember 2021 "Migration, Language, Climate: Global Entanglements"
Migration is not just a matter of people moving from one place to another: the climate, capital, words and languages are all integral to it, both as agents of movement and as its objects. This transatlantic, bi-lingual conference with workshop discussion will shed light on some of the ways in which migration is entangled with literature and language, climate, and industrialization. Remote only; partly in English and partly in German.

The past two decades have seen the rise of an increasingly powerful global climate-security market designed to profit from the ever-recurring flows of migrants. We are witnessing the emergence of what we might call a “climate-migration-industrial complex.”
A transatlantic cooperation between Macalester College and RWTH University Aachen with support from a Mellon Foundation grant. Organized by David Martyn and Christiane Frey.
